    Let’s be honest you don’t need a belt to do bjj. You don’t see the best Olympic wrestlers needing a belt to make them feel cool. The belt system is one of the main reasons it gets called a cult. Also it’s a money grab.

    In reference to the sentiment: “Jiu Jitsu starts where the other arts end,” holds true in regard to the way that many understand, and/or perpetuate their representation of the system of karate. Most people who claim to “do” karate, simply “do” punch, block, kick karate. BUT: Truth be told, Karate’s true curriculum is broken down into five parts. Those parts are as follows: BEGINNER •Punching, Thrusting, Striking, Kicking - 20% •Tegumi (Okinawan Grappling/Wrestling) - 20% ~INTERMEDIATE •Loading, Tripping, Reaping, Sweeping - 20% •Joint Manipulation, Vital Point Attacks, Vital Area Attacks, Muscle Disruption, Tendon Disruption - 20% ~ADVANCED •Kobudo (Ancient Ways) - 20% __________________________________ = UA KARATE-JUTSU 100%

    It's a great documentary about two outstanding personalities of the JuJutsu's Family. Master Helio Gracie and his close friend and student: Doctor Valente. He also became a Master but always remained a disciple of his Master Helio, like brothers. The Gracie and Valente a families build close ties and now from Heaven both can happily see their sons and grand sons growing and becoming so great Masters as we all can see. My sincere respect and admiration to Gracie JuJutsu. To Valente Brothers JuJutsu wich an example to follow are. From Spain. From a small JuJutsu school. From a humble and old instructor. All my best wishes and blessings full of health and prosperity. Friendship and Mutual Well fare forever. 🙏🏻🥋🙇🏻‍♂️

    It's only a sport, not for a surprise attack or street fight where multiple opponents and weapons are often used, and there isn't a mat, rules, or referees. It's only a sport martial art, always was.

    Jiu-Jitsu today has lost its fighting spirit. It has become competition-based, and it is not effective for combat. A small percentage of schools actually teach fighting. I don't advertise my school as teaching self-defense because it has been abused in Mc-Dojo's. I refer to my system as a combat-based Jiu-Jitsu style.

    In Jigoro Kano' book Mind Over Muscle, he is talking about practicing atemi waza (only through kata) so Judo back then was different from today's Judo.Also,the term "Ju" is a part of a bigger idea, the idea of seiryoku zenyo, meaning "best use of energy",so,yielding is a method of seiryoku zenyo but not the only one (the leverage or the atemi in vital points of human body are also expressions of seiryoku zenyo).Also, in the same book, Kano claims that mixing the sport element (pressure testing) with the martial art (jujutsu) makes this martial art more effective (where others believe that this makes it inefficient).There are pros and cons from sport fighting, in general. Also, remember that striking practicing through randori is dangerous for brain's health (tbi, cte etc).Thank you.

      Also, in Kano's book Kodokan Judo, there are defenses against striking and weapons.Kano also wanted to mix Judo with Kendo so, to have a complete martial system. Unfortunately, today's situation is different.

  • @grimsbybrazilianjiu-jitsu7423
    @grimsbybrazilianjiu-jitsu7423 Місяць тому

    I agree with everything but I feel you have some ignorance to sport rules as well. You said it is fine to sit back for a footlock from top guard but it is not fine under the point system. You are punished by your opponenet gaining two points so if you do not finish the foot lock you will lose the match which simulates you losing the fight. Also turning away exposing your back and immediately standing is arguably the better option in a street fight rather than accepting bottom side mount and just defending, which could be suicide in a multiple attacker scenario.
